West Shore is the Best Shore

Tahoe Backcountry has been as good as I can ever remember. Typically, January is nicknamed "June-uary" due to the lack of snow or rain, and warm temps that we tend to get. Not this past January, and it is rolling right into Febuary. We have had a bit of something falling from the sky almost every day. Yesterday was amazing on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, with cold smoke turns, and unprecedented cold temperatures. I think that Punxsatawney Phil's confirmation of 6 more weeks of winter by not seeing his shadow yesterday has afirmed for us Tahoeites that winter is here to stay. At least for a few more months. Hoorah!! Just in time for next week, which most schools have off for ski/skate week during the President's Holiday week.

Speaking of which, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows has alot of fun things on the docket for the ski/skate week. One thing that caught my eye is the Kid-o-rama festivities at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. From cookies and live music on the deck at Alpine Meadows after skiing, to snowmobiling and climbing walls at Squaw Valley. There is alot to do with the kiddos when in town for the holiday. Check out the full schedule.

Winter is still in full swing! Enjoy the snow.
